Minecraft has been one of our favourate childhood games. And now it's making a comeback with the biggest update we've all been wating for - The Caves and Cliffs update.
The delation in the update happend on April was a dissapointment, but Mojang has not failed us by providing the best update. Although the update does not introduce any new items or mobs to the game, it changes the major part of the game, caves and cliffs. (as the name suggests)
With the new update, players can now enjoy increased world height, from 255m to 319m. This unleashes player's imagination and creativity even further, by removing the resistrictions players had previously.
That is not the important part of the update though. With the update comes two new cave biomes, Dripstone caves and Lush caves.
- Lush cave -
- Dripstone cave -
Apart from these new biomes, normal caves are getting multiple revamps as well. Using new 'Noise Cave' generation, developers were able to increase the variety of the caves generations players will run into and diverged the gameplay experience. Also, new local water level will bring some great featured added back in 1.13 aquatic update to the caves.
This is a very good news for players who were getting tired of exploring same boring caves all the time. Since mining and exploring caves is one of the fundametal part of the game, 1.18 update is expected to be a very exciting update for both returning players and new players!
Below all the fancy new caves lies the deepslate caves. Thanks to the increased world height, the caves now generates down to y=-64. Here, barely any lights exists and there are monsters everywhere. Don't worry too much about the monsters though, Mojang's got you covered. Monsters now only spawn when light level is 0. So, you'll only need few torches to light your way forward. Also, you'll find some precious ores like gold and diamonds way more frequently down at deepslate level, so hopefully this will motivate you for going down into the danger!

Goin' High...
Increased world height doesn't only benefits the cave generation, it also benefits the mountains. Forget the boring old 'mountains' that were barely higher than a hill. Mountains are now properly shaped and higher than ever. It's so high that devs had to increase the cloud height to prevent it from covering the mountain! New peaks biomes, Jagged Peaks, Frozen Peaks, and Stoney peaks all feature unique and amazing look. These biomes also comes with goats and powdered snow, which are both great addition. Just be careful, because falling into powdered snow will freeze you to death!
